PAIRING SPIRITS with WILD MUSHROOMS: An evening with ISCO & the Mushroom Hunting Foundation

A special presentation about Rhode Island’s native wild fungi: the adventure of searching for edible species, the science that makes it safe…and the remarkable range of flavors among the mushrooms of our own local forests. What do they taste like? And how would they be paired with, for example, a nice Heirloom Four-year Bourbon? Surprisingly diverse and delicious, these are mushroom flavors that supermarket shoppers never get to experience. During this event, you’ll have a chance to sample some of them for yourself—four species in particular, selected for pairing with four unique ISCO spirits!

Of course, eating wild mushrooms is a topic you would want to learn about from professionals. The pairings of ISCO spirits and wild fungi will be served in tandem with a talk by Ryan and Emily Bouchard of The Mushroom Hunting Foundation, who will present a unique slideshow of all-local mushroom photography, explaining the world of wild fungi and emphasizing the four species we’ve selected. Join us for this groundbreaking exploration of amazing flavor combinations.

This program is a collaboration between the Industrious Spirit Company and The Mushroom Hunting Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Rhode Island that teaches people how to safely enjoy America’s incredible mushroom hunting and wild plant foraging.
