Recollections of a Steamboat Pilot - George Byron Merrick
Mark Your Calendars: Friday, July 11, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. Robert Taunt, presents "Recollections of a Steamboat Pilot - George Byron Merrick." This presentation is part of the Prescott Area Historical Society's Speaker Series.
Robert Taunt will present "George Merrick Tonight" as he recreates the character of one of Prescott's native sons. Recounting true stories from his 1909 book "Old Times on the Upper Mississippi," the character of Merrick will tell of early days in Prescott and Steamboating prior to the Civil War. The story will be told through narrative and colorful powerpoint slides. Don't miss this rare appearance of Prescott's own George Merrick!
