This workshop will explore the Buddha's teachings on the three types of self-comparsion/judgement, as well as the two primary alternatives which are much more wonderful and life-giving: emptiness and compassion. We'll also discuss how this crosses with Dr. Kristen Neff's teachings on self-esteem and self-compassion.
Our time together will feature a combination of guided meditation, journaling, brief lecture, and small & large group discussion.
Given the subject matter, as well as my teaching style, this workshop will invite a degree of vulnerability and both exploring & discussing with others some of our tender spots.
In turn, if this theme feels destabilizing or overwhelming, probably better to not attend — but, if it feels exciting, liberating, or maybe a little edgy but in a good way, I invite you to join us in community to realize something deeper than the limiting mind of judgement, comparsion, criticism and hatred.
As always, effort will be made to create a container of safety, care, and being "at-choice" with your level of participation.
Offered on the gift economy (aka, on donation).
Please note that offered on donation does not mean "low value" or "only sign up because no payment is required." Please only join if you genuinely intend to come.
If you'd like to learn more about how and why I support myself 98% on community donations, please read this article.
Note: for donation-based events, Eventbrite does require a $1 minimum donation.
