Newcomer Night – Join the Adventure!
Curious about the SCA? Join us every second Wednesday of the month for Newcomer Night—an hour dedicated to welcoming new faces, answering questions, and exploring the many activities the SCA has to offer! Whether you're interested in combat, arts, history, or just making new friends, this is the perfect place to start. Bring a camp chair, your curiosity, and any questions you have—we’ll provide the camaraderie and guidance to help you begin your journey!

April - Welcome to the SCA! (Intro Night)
Brief history of the SCA and what we do.
Overview of local groups, Kingdom structure, and events.
Icebreaker activity: “What Interests You?” survey + quick roundtable introductions.
Hands-on: Basic courtesy & titles (how to address people in the SCA).
May - Garb & Persona 101
What is a persona? Do you need one? (Hint: Nope, but it’s fun!)
Overview of garb—what to wear, easy starter garb, resources.
Hands-on: Try on or examine different styles of garb.
Discussion: “What time period or culture interests you?”
June - Combat & Chivalry Night
Heavy and rapier fighting basics—how to get involved.
SCA combat rules & chivalric culture.
Hands-on: Basic footwork and stance demos + how to authorize.
Q&A with experienced fighters.
