Why compost?
Did you know the average single-family home in Palm Beach County produces 1,700 pounds of yard waste every year? That’s over 40% of a household’s total solid waste! With more than 200,000 tons of yard waste collected annually, backyard composting is a simple yet powerful way to:
-Reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills
-Extend the life of existing landfills
-Improve your soil and garden health naturally
Whether you’re a seasoned composter or just getting started, this workshop will give you the tools and knowledge to start composting at home and make a positive impact on your community. Additionally, you will receive a complimentary 43-gallon backyard compost tumbler to take home! (Limit of one per household. Available to City of West Palm Beach residents only.)
The workshop will be led by Tavia Gordon, Urban Agriculture Extension Agent with Florida A&M University Cooperative Extension. Attendees will receive a compost tumbler, generously provided by Keep West Palm Beach Beautiful.
This event is proudly facilitated by the City of West Palm Beach Office of Sustainability, as part of our ongoing efforts to promote greener living and waste reduction in our community.
Let’s grow a greener future—one compost pile at a time! Complete the form below to register and save your seat at the workshop. Limited seats are available. If you are no longer able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. The registration form will close on July 9 at 12 p.m. or when we reach capacity.
Please note that the compost tumbler does NOT come assembled. It will be in a box that will fit in the backseat of a sedan or larger vehicle.
