About the event

Fort Foote Tour: The People of Fort Foote
Join us to learn more about this Civil War era fortification perched on Rosier Heights, just down the Potomac River from Washington, DC. Find out why it was built, who built and occupied it, and why it was so important during and after the war.

We welcome all – whether you’ve never visited before or live nearby, come on down for a look at the fort. Our staff will be happy to give you a tour.

The tour will proceed over mostly flat terrain, but good hiking shoes are recommended for the soft soil. Make sure to bring water and sun protection. The tour will cover about a mile both in and around the fort itself. We will cover about a mile.
