Let’s Create!
Monthly Nights at The Joslyn events are free evenings for art immersion. Come out for art talks, art making, special programs, and tasty food and drinks (for purchase). This month, join us for all things creative, with activities related to two of our temporary exhibitions, "Suchitra Mattai: The Fall" and "The Floating World and Beyond: 200 Years of Japanese Prints."
A look at the fun this month from 5–8 pm:
• Begin at our Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the evening. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
• Walk & Talk with Gallery Volunteers at 5:30 pm, 6:15 pm, and 7 pm. Join us for an insightful 35-minute experience in two of our temporary exhibitions, "Suchitra Mattai: The Fall" and "The Floating World and Beyond: 200 Years of Japanese Prints." We are repeating the talks throughout the evening as space is limited in these gallery spaces. *ASL interpretation provided.
• At 6:15 pm, watch a demonstration of Iaido, a Japanese martial art that (through solo forms) teaches the use of Japanese sword, by members of Maizuru (Crane Dance) Dojo.
• Be part of a collaborative, large-scale weaving project, inspired by Suchitra Mattai and many other fiber artists whose work is on view in the Museum. Join teaching artist Therese Straseski for this outdoor art-making activity in our Discovery Garden.
• Check out our Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials and talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers.
• The Founder’s Room is designated as a quiet space for this event, stocked with an array of books and games.
• Due to the generous support of Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program, "Made in the Plains," tickets are free to all from 4-8 pm today; always free to Joslyn members.
• Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale. The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests. If you are part of an intergenerational group, be sure to visit Art Works: A Place for Curiosity, an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (children must be accompanied by adults).
Thanks to program partner, Maizuru (Crane Dance) Dojo.
Generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.
