Eva Schegulla: Dramatizing History Workshop

History is created and made up of people with fascinating stories, which are often forgotten, left untold, or erased. Learn techniques for following the breadcrumbs of history, and then turning them into viably dramatic stories, be it prose, poem, or script, through character building and narrative drive. Participants are encouraged to bring in ideas & individuals that intrigue them, and/or a couple of pages of whatever they are working on. There will also be prompts and writing time within the workshop, and handouts.
About Eva: Best known under the Devon Ellington byline, is a full-time writer publishing under multiple names in fiction & nonfiction, and is an internationally-produced playwright and radio writer. She worked on Broadway for years as a dresser. She is in the upcoming Level Best Anthology CELLOUID CRIMES, and her audio comedy “The Effie Effect” airs this month. She specializes in comic noir mysteries that turn misogynistic tropes inside out, and in forgotten women’s histories. Her work has been produced in NY, Los Angeles, London, Edinburgh, and Australia. She was a member of Toronto’s Nightwood Theatre Creatryx Unit, The Northern Berkshire Artist Capacity Building Program, is part of WAM Theatre’s literary committee, and a member of the current group show at Future Labs & Installation Space.
