This intro to architectural drawing course is beginner friendly and will offer an overview of the fundamentals of architectural drawing. We’ll start in the classroom at Appalachian Arts by exploring the history of architectural drawing and mastering the basics with one and two-point perspective drawings. Then, we'll take our skills to TVA’s Norris Dam, where you'll draw from observation, capturing real-life scenes with newfound depth and dimension.

Sam van Strien is currently an artist-in-residence at Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Sam’s work examines the relationship between architecture, finance, and capitalism through various techniques, such as rubbings from buildings, laser-cut engravings, and drawings sourced from archival records. Sam received his MFA in Painting & Drawing from Ohio State University and his BA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins in London, England.
