About the event

Raj Lalwani in conversation with Raghav Pasricha

Join us for the launch and first viewing of Raj Lalwani’s debut photobook, Daydream Delusion—a book about a city that does not exist. Raj will be in conversation with photographer and filmmaker Raghav Pasricha, as they explore the methods and motivations behind the making of the book.

Daydream Delusion is a book about a city that does not exist. Much like a daydream, much like delusion, it is a world that is make believe, for better and for worse.

After a year-long travel of pop-up shows in public spaces, the book will be launched at the Dilip Piramal Art Gallery, followed by a conversation between Raj and Raghav Pasricha, as witness and close friend.

Raj Lalwani is a visual artist working with photography. With a practice that is in conversation with memory, cinema, the city and the night, he seeks photographs that are about suggestions, hesitations, incompleteness, in-betweenness.

For the better of a decade, Raj wrote on photography in India, engaging both with the history of the medium, and with fellow contemporary practitioners. In 2018, doc! photo & Blow Up Press named him as one of the 20 best emerging photographers in the world.

Raj is an alumnus of the Nearest Truth Photobook Program, a collective of artists and bookmakers from around the world.

Raghav Pasricha is a Delhi-based photographer and filmmaker who works across genres and across practices. An MPhil from DU in visual anthropology, he was also the recipient of the Director’s Fellowship while at the International Center of Photography, New York.

Over the past three years, Raghav and his partner Eva Zanettin have photographed and filmed Baul and Fakir traditions across West Bengal, and walked and filmed the Wari in Maharashtra, from the lens of resistance and resilience to social inequality. This work was shown in the form of two short films and a photo exhibit, at the Bengal Biennale 2024.

Entry free on a first-come-first-served basis.
