Cynthia Trussell has always enjoyed the outdoors and getting her hands dirty. She studied Archaeology, has lived and gardened in six different states, and for the near future has settled in Lancaster County. After her young children developed food allergies, she left her career in archaeology to devote her time to growing as much of her family’s food as possible.
Cynthia lives on a farm in a restored 1788 historic farmhouse in southern Lancaster County where she tends to native meadows, woodlands, and vegetable gardens.
She is involved in a variety of projects through the Penn State Extension Master Gardener program. Her love of history introduced her to native gardening, and her passion for education and access to nutritious, quality food, led her to work with the Seed to Supper and Speakers Bureau programs.
Penn State Extension Master Gardeners are volunteers who have an interest and enthusiasm for gardening and are trained in a broad range of horticultural topics. In return, Master Gardeners use unbiased, research-based information to educate our communities on best practices in sustainable horticulture and environmental stewardship.
