Walking the Seasons with Uncle Dougie

The Riddoch and Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation presents 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗶𝗲. Saturday 23 August at 10:30am.

Coinciding with the 𝘈𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦, 𝘈𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘕𝘰𝘸 exhibition, Walking the Seasons helps to immerse and attune participants to nature and the impacts of the changing seasons with a First Nations cultural lens. Successfully piloted in schools and with mental health organisations for adults and young people, Walking the Seasons also produces positive mental health outcomes and promotes cultural understanding and knowledge.

Participants will be able to observe changes over seasons and from year to year. In some ecosystems, symptoms of drought can be quite subtle and so this program will help to add to the whole-of-region dataset, as well as teaching keen observational skills to detect those small changes, backed up by records over time. Participants will also be trained and encouraged to make observations on their own patch, whether it be farm or town, that they can add to over time.

Meet Uncle Dougie at the Blue Lake Conservation Park at 10:30am. Please dress according to the weather.
