Homeward Hounds Event – find your new best fur-iend!

Date: Saturday 20 December

Time: 9am – 11am

Location: Capalaba Greyhound Racing Club, 16 Old Cleveland Road, Capalaba, QLD 4157

Come and meet the adorable GAP greyhounds looking for their new family homes, there will be plenty of pats and cuddles on offer 🏡💚! Pre-approved meet-and-greet applicants can collect their greyhound on the day, and for anyone who falls head over paws for one of our available GAP greyhounds, on-the-day meets and adoption are available (just bring photos of your fences, gates and outdoor areas) with collection of your greyhound to be arranged for a later date.

Greyhound adoptions

We’re offering both pre-matched and on-the-day meets:

Pre-matched meet-and-greets:

1. Complete our online adoption form before the event, telling us about your home and lifestyle. We’re keen to make sure we can find you and your family the perfect match.
2. The GAP team will review your application and match you with greyhound/s that best suit your needs.
3. Then, all that’s left to do is meet your potential new best friend at the event.

On-the-day meets:

1. Take photos of your backyard and fencing to help us process your application on the day.
2. Join us at the event and chat with the GAP team about your family, home, and lifestyle.
3. We’ll introduce you to some of our adoptable greyhounds, and if you meet a greyhound you just can’t imagine living without, you can complete an adoption application form for them.
4. The greyhound will then need to travel back to GAP for a final vet check, and a future collection date will be arranged.

Remember you’ll need photos of your backyard and fencing. We’ll help you complete the necessary paperwork on the day of the meet and greet.

Please note. If you already have a dog or cat, ‘on the day adoptions’ are not available. The GAP team must first arrange a suitable match and will schedule a meet and greet at another time so your current dog and potential adopted greyhound can meet for the first time. Unfortunately, we are unable to conduct first dog to dog meet and greets at the event. For homes with cats, greyhounds are placed in a foster-to-adopt program to ensure compatibility between the animals.
