FITCOG Milestone Celebration & Listening Session

The Event:

The Focused Intervention Team Community Oversight Group (FITCOG) invites you to attend a community listening session and milestone celebration on June 26th from 6-8pm. The group will be welcoming former members, community leaders, and leadership from the City of Portland to recap the work that the group has done over the past four years.

Presentations will be given by current members on the accomplishments the FITCOG has made over the past four years. Assistant Chief Amanda McMillian, from the Portland Police Bureau will also be speaking.

The community is invited to attend and take part in a conversation around efforts to reduce gun violence in Portland. Come learn more about the FITCOG and share with us your stories about how gun violence has impacted you, your families, and your neighborhoods.

Who we are:

The Focused Intervention Team Community Oversight Group's (FITCOG) mission is to work closely with the Commissioner-in-Charge of the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), PPB leadership, and the Focused Intervention Team (FIT) and command, to provide oversight and recommendations to reduce gun violence in Portland through prevention, intervention, and response.

How it all began:

Portland's former Mayor, Ted Wheeler, created the FITCOG in June 2021 to ensure the community had a meaningful role in developing and shaping how the Portland Police Bureau’s Focused Intervention Team (FIT) works to end gun violence. The FITCOG works with the FIT in real time to select members, review training, and oversee their engagement with the community. Based on this work, the FITCOG also makes recommendations to reduce gun violence through prevention, intervention, and response.
