This is certainly the best-ever, sea kayaking trip, that I have experienced 😉

As an added highlight to your kayak tour, you will have the unique opportunity to view the stunning Diaz Beach, known for its pristine sands and dramatic coastal scenery. Additionally, you will paddle into an impressive, large marine cavern located just before reaching the two iconic lighthouses at Cape Point. This cavern offers a rare and captivating experience, allowing you to explore a remarkable natural feature up close. Along the route, there is also the exciting possibility of spotting whales in their natural ocean environment, providing an unforgettable wildlife encounter that enhances the adventure even further.

Cost per person @R785.00. This one is definitely one for the bucket list. We did this trip last year and its is my favourite sea kayaking trip to date and it was awesome!

ABOUT THE ADVENTURE ON OFFER
#########################

Embark on a breathtaking journey with Paddle Experience, a guided kayak tour from Buffels Bay to the Cape Point lighthouses. This four-hour adventure offers an intimate encounter with the dramatic coastal beauty of the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Paddling beneath towering cliffs and along rugged shorelines, participants will explore hidden coves, tranquil beaches, and marine ecosystems teeming with life. Your expert guide provides insights into the region’s unique biodiversity, with opportunities to observe seabirds, marine mammals, and other coastal wildlife in their natural habitat—making this a deeply immersive experience that blends active exploration with ecological discovery.

The tour follows an out-and-back route beginning at the Buffels slipway inside Table Mountain National Park. Be sure to bring your Wild Card, Green Card, or have your entry fee ready for access. From the protected launch site, the group heads out along the coastline toward Cape Point. If conditions allow, paddlers may venture into a sea cave en route and continue just beyond the Point itself. The total distance covered is approximately 12.5 km, offering a rewarding challenge for those with prior kayaking experience.

Reaching Cape Point by kayak is a truly unforgettable experience. This iconic location marks a symbolic meeting point between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, and seeing the lighthouse from the water evokes a sense of awe and adventure. The open sea surrounding the Point is vast and elemental, and the journey offers not only scenic grandeur but also a profound connection to the natural forces that shape this coastline. With its combination of geological drama, wildlife encounters, and guided expertise, this tour is a standout offering for nature lovers and paddling enthusiasts alike.

#########################
A POSSIBILITY OF SEEING WHALES
#########################

The kayaking route takes us past Buffels Bay, along the Whale Watching Point at Rooikrans, and onward to Cape Point itself. If the weather is suitable, you may also catch a glimpse of Diaz Beach. Rooikrans is one of the top whale-watching spots along the Cape Point Route, stretching from Muizenberg onwards. Here, deep water lies close to the coast, and during whale season (June to November, with a peak in August–September), you might be lucky enough to see whales directly below you in the clear, cold water.

Highlights along the route may include:

Viewing the two lighthouses within the Cape Point Nature Reserve
The chance to kayak into a large marine cave just below Cape Point, and possibly spot whales along the way
Observing the colony of Cape Fur Seals that inhabit the tip of the reserve
Spotting the rare Black Cormorant fishing in the kelp beds
Reaching the lighthouses—an achievement worthy of any bucket list. Paddling past the Point and into the deep blue, with South Africa behind you and only Antarctica ahead, is a truly mind-blowing experience.
