Back by popular request for those that missed out on the last one. On offer will be new trails that you might not have done before. I have also done a lot of extra research into rock features and caves that might be seen along the way.
This extended stay will give you a chance to experience the sacredness of Table Mountain and be able to visit places that you might not have heard or not have been able to get to due to fitness, for the rushed one day hike and down. The route up on the first day will be via Orange Kloof Nature Reserve. You can only get access to this area with a guide or if you were staying at the Orange Kloof Tented Camp. This route up will certainly be one of the easier routes up to the Peoples Hut, offering some of the most spectacular views over Orange Kloof Nature Reserve and Hout Bay. Most groups only stay for the one night. This extended stay on top of Table Mountain is a once in a life time experience not to be missed. I also kept the route and distance manageable for those with a moderate to higher level of fitness.
This is a great entry level - [3 x day] experience for those that are new to Multiday hiking. Total Distance, over the 3 x days, will be 30.35km
Cost: R 1285.00 per person to secure your booking. This will be a self-catering hiking weekend option. Included in the payment will be your accommodation for the 2 x nights, permits, organising / facilitator fees and the various organised activities on offer. Please note that bookings will be on a first-come first-served basis with payment, so book early to avoid disappointment.
#########################
[You will need to be able to carry your own back-pack, however plenty of extra time is allocated for the breaks and to enjoy the scenery, so the trail wont be rushed. PLEASE CALL, if you are note sure of your fitness and I can advise you accordingly] --- No tents will be needed, but you will need to carry your sleeping bag and sufficient warm clothes. You will need proper rain gear, including rain pants. The accommodation is fully equipped.

We start the trail at Constantia Nek at 09:00, opposite the Constantia Nek Restaurant. From here we follow the jeep track into Orange Kloof Nature reserve to the Disa River. We will follow the trail as it descends into the Afro-Montane forests of Orange Kloof. Our first stopping point will be at the Disa River, to take in the beauty of this ancient forest below. This area you can only access with a permit and because we have booked out the hut, this gives us privilege access to this area. I have stayed on 3 separate occasions in the past at the tented camp and it feels like you are in another world. I am so looking forward to being back in the part of Table Mountain again.
Fewer fires have occurred in Orange Kloof National Forest compared to other parts of the Table Mountain National Park making some of the trees and vegetation in this area the oldest in Cape Town. This area has remained un-burnt for over 30 years – another reason that this forest is highly protected! Walking through the Orange Kloof National Forest gives one a feeling of been in a rainforest under the magnificent canopies of trees.
After our break, we will follow the trail, as it ascends through Disa Gorge to the Woodhead reservoir. On route we will stop at the entrance of the Woodhead Tunnel built in 1891, which is a 700m long tunnel transporting water from Woodhead dam through the mountain to Slangolie Ravine above Camps Bay. Part of Cape Town's water system in the late 1800's.
From here we will head on to the entrance of the Apostles Tunnel that was built in 1964 and still functions as part of Cape Town's water supply.
From there the trail continues on to the Peoples Hut that is situated on the “Back Table” of Table Mountain. Our arrival time will be around 3pm, which will give us time to settle in. Weather permitting we will watch the sunset from the old Cable Car Station near Kasteelpoort. We are permitted to make a fire and we will be doing a bring and braai on the first night.

We will also see if we can find the Union Rock Shelter that is located below Waaikoppie Peak. From here we will head on along the Smuts Track from here we will see if we can find Johns Cave. From here we will head down the Aqueduct Track and following the Upper Disa Stream until we get to the Waterworks Museum, passing the Hely Hutchinson Reservoir [1904].
