By popular demand, we are thrilled to welcome Connor MacArthur back for a repeat presentation!
Our first presentation was fully booked by our mug club members, so we are doing things a little differently this time around to ensure everyone who didn't get to attend has the opportunity this time around. This will be a ticketed event, with a nominal fee of $5 per person. Event is free to Mug Club members, who may message us to make reservations. Tickets are non-refundable unless presentation is cancelled for any reason.
Step into the grim and fascinating world of medieval medicine in "Blood and Bone: The Macabre World of Medieval Medicine." This lecture will take you through the brutal realities of surgery, amputation, and autopsy before the age of anesthesia and antiseptics. Witness the very tools that shaped life and death—scalpels, surgical saws, trepanning instruments, bloodletting tools, and even a device designed to extract arrowheads from human flesh. Are you ready to face the bleeding edge of history?
About Connor:
Connor MacArthur is a historian, craftsman, and lecturer who breathes renewed life into the world of medieval Europe. With a storyteller’s touch and a craftsman’s skill, he unveils the brutal, ingenious, and often macabre realities of the past. From the clamor of arrows on the battlefield to the precise, hand-wrought edges of medieval surgical tools, his work bridges the gap between history and experience. Whether exploring the art of war or the grim intricacies of medieval medicine, his lectures offer a vivid and immersive journey into a time both distant and strikingly familiar.
