Join us for another special edition of Wild Walk & Water—a women-only experience that blends a beautiful guided walk with an introduction to wild dipping, set deep in the heart of the Brecon Beacons beneath the towering peaks of Pen y Fan.
This 5-mile circular walk begins by tracing the banks of the River Taff through a dramatic, steep-sided valley shaped by the surrounding mountains. The route leads us across an old dam and past the atmospheric remains of a Victorian-era pumping station—once central to the area’s industrial heritage.
We then follow a disused railway line high along the opposite side of the valley, offering wide, open views across to Pontsticill Reservoir and the wooded landscape below. The final stretch winds us gently through peaceful forestry tracks alongside the river once more, where our next adventure begins.
Here, under the canopy of trees beside the clear, flowing Taff, qualified open water swim coach Emily Mason will guide you through a beginner-friendly wild dipping session in one of the river’s hidden pools. This is a chance to connect with nature, build confidence, and experience the revitalising power of cold-water immersion in a safe, supported environment.
After your dip, you’ll be welcomed with a hot drink and a homemade brownie to warm up and reflect. Led by two experienced professionals—Emily and walk leader Sarah Price of Walk Hay—this is a carefully curated experience designed to nourish body and soul.
With just 8 places available, it’s a truly personal and memorable way to explore one of Wales’s most breathtaking landscapes.
