Come and join me for a special guided walk beginning in Builth Wells, Mid-Wales.
This circular route (just under 10 miles) begins by picking up the beautiful Wye Valley Walk, a well-known long-distance footpath that winds gradually up above the Wye river valley, offering ever-expanding views across the landscape south of the town.
As we continue climbing, the path opens out onto the high moorland common of Blanc y Celyn, where the rolling hills seem to stretch endlessly in every direction. From this elevated vantage point, we’ll take time to soak in the vastness and peace of the upland terrain.
The highlight of our walk is a visit to the hidden gem of Pant y Llyn pool — a striking upland pool formed by two dammed streams. Here, surrounded by grazing sheep and the occasional wild pony, we’ll pause for a picnic lunch and the chance to take in the wild beauty of this special spot.
Our return journey winds gently back toward Builth on a mix of quiet footpaths, lanes, and bridleways. Expect a relaxed pace, plenty of opportunities to chat, take photographs, and truly enjoy being out on the land.
Whether you’re a regular walker or just looking for a memorable autumn day out, this route offers a rich mix of scenery and solitude.
