For three days in Kópavogur, we invite you to embark on a journey of bold improvisations that will lead us into uncharted musical territories. A unique international mix of sensibilities will craft inimitable soundscapes, while modern technologies will unveil new dimensions of music. From August 26th to 28th, you can be part of a unique international experience as part of Adventurous Music Plateaux [AMP].
Participants can look forward to two concerts and seven workshops taking place at Salurinn concert hall. All concerts and workshops will be recorded in spatial formats — 360 VR video and Dolby Atmos audio. These recordings will not only capture the essence of the live performances but also be available online and on VR headsets, allowing audiences worldwide to engage with the experience long after the event has concluded.
Adventurous Music Plateaux cooperates with Reykjavík Jazz Festival as a fringe event.
Reykjavík Jazz Festival will take place from August 26–31. This year’s festival will feature nearly 30 concerts and events with over 100 musicians. Held annually since 1990, the festival is an important platform for the Icelandic jazz scene and the country’s music life.
This year’s program is highly diverse, with concerts and events taking place in Harpa, Fríkirkjan in Reykjavík, Iðnó, BIRD, Jómfrúin, and more. A highlight of Reykjavík Jazz Festival will be a concert by three-time Grammy Award winner Cécile McLorin Salvant. In addition, bands and artists from Australia, Poland, the Nordic countries, and Iceland will perform.
ADVENTUROUS MUSIC PLATEAUX
These events are part of the Adventurous Music Plateaux project, which aims to expand the possibilities of music export and audience engagement through advanced spatial audio and video tools. This project utilises some of the latest trends in the field, such as Dolby Atmos sound and 360 VR video. AMP enables remote access to music content and promotes innovative methods of music export, particularly related to live performances. The project creates new opportunities for distributing music that transcend the physical presence of musicians and their performances at concert venues. In doing so, AMP addresses key challenges in the contemporary music ecosystem, particularly the development of music export through innovative promotional strategies for artists and their works across borders. It also engages in tasks related to digital technology, including adapting, testing, and implementing existing solutions in the music sector, as well as training European specialists in their application.
The action “Adventurous Music Plateaux – expanding export capabilities of music content and audience involvement through the use of digital tools and recordings (Dolby Atmos and 360 VR)” is co-funded by the European Union as part of the LIVEMX project.
Views and opinions expressed are, however, those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union and therefore the European Union cannot be held responsible for them.
