Haley Art Gallery invites the public to Modern Ancient Music Guitar Recital –a solo guitar concert by David James Stuart, featuring original compositions and transcriptions. The performance will be held on Saturday, June 28, 6:30-7:30pm. Tickets are $10 and can be paid at the door.

David James Stuart’s latest album, Kinetic Edge, showcases his evolution as a solo guitarist. Stuart began his studies in Bozeman, Montana, where he focused on classical techniques. After relocating to New England, he studied under Randy Armstrong – member of the World Group Do’ah – who further emphasized the benefits of classical as a foundation for all guitar styles. He also participated in master classes with Michael Hedges at the National Guitar Summer Workshop.
In 1999, Stuart’s composition Joyful Noise was featured on Daddy’s Junky Music’s Best of Massachusetts CD release that year. He has composed music for short films with Steven Baldwin and contributed guitar work to various local artists' albums. After earning a BA in music composition and performance from Gordon College, he was accepted into the Christopher Parkening master class at Montana State University as a student/performer. Following the release of his debut CD, Mirage, he performed at such high-profile events as First Night Boston and the Special Olympics ceremonies, among others in the greater Boston area.
