In order to ice dye we need time and heat. We begin at 10am and you finish when you’re done. Approx 4 hours. There is a lot of waiting involved, but the hotter it is, the faster it processes. This class does not meet in the West Bottoms studio. We meet in my own backyard. Approx 10 miles east of my studio. Address provided after ticket purchase.
This is a cannabis friendly event, therefore you. must be 21 to register.
Free Preroll, Lunch, and cold beverages will be provided. You get one free preroll, usually a sativa or a hybrid, but feel free to bring more if you like.
Bring a folding or camping chair. I will have tables all set up and ready to go in the shade. We will be outdoors the entire time, so please dress accordingly. Maybe a bandana for absorbing sweat. Be sure to wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dye on.
We will learn about materials, process, and technique. We will be using high quality very permanent powdered pigments.
Lunch will vary depending on what the munchies bring our way, but I will likely have sandwiches, pasta, or pizza. I’ll have bottles of cold water available as well.
Each person may do a limit of 2 small items per class. Each item takes a long time to prepare and process, but it’s totally worth it! The ice dye look is more crisp and eye catching than the traditional tie dye method. Cotton and Linen only. 5% spandex t-shirts are ok. No heavy fabrics or articles of clothing. The ice has to melt passing through the powered dye and into the fabric in order to look cool.
I will have a variety of pre washed and pre-soaked white cotton and linen items available for an additional cost. I have long summer scarfs, canvas purses, pillow cases, aprons, bandanas, tank tops, tea towels, or hand towels. Prices are below. Ask for these ahead of time, so I can have them ready when you arrive.
You can bring your own pre laundered items for no additional cost, but will need to presoak them in warm soda ash water for 2 hours min. If you’d like to soak yours the night before, just let me know and I will have some soda ash available for you to pick up to soak your items ahead of time.
