This Independence Day, let’s come together not just to celebrate freedom—but to redefine it. At a time when rights are still being denied and voices still silenced, we invite you to reclaim the meaning of independence through community, joy, and collective resistance.

Join us Thursday, July 4th at Deep Dive (Ithaca, NY) for an unforgettable night of dancing, solidarity, and purpose—all in support of the Worker Justice Center of New York (WJCNY), a nonprofit fighting on the front lines for the dignity and rights of agricultural and low-wage workers across our state.

We’re thrilled to welcome our first-ever vinyl DJ, the legendary Hot Cole—visiting us from Miami! Known for spinning everything from classic and neo-disco to progressive house, dance hits from across decades, and the occasional nostalgic 90s throwback, Hot Cole will be lighting up the dancefloor with soulful grooves and high-energy beats. It’s not just a party—it’s a movement in motion.

Why We Dance: About the Worker Justice Center of New York (WJCNY)

WJCNY’s mission is to pursue justice for those denied human rights, with a deep focus on farmworkers and low-wage workers—particularly within immigrant and rural communities. Founded through a merger of grassroots legal services in 2011, the organization now stands as a premier force for legal representation, advocacy, education, and survivor support in New York State.

Each year, WJCNY supports over 5,000 individuals, most of whom are migrant or immigrant families, through:

• Legal Advocacy: Fighting wage theft, exploitation, and abuse.
• Outreach & Education: Empowering workers with tools to know and protect their rights.
• Survivor Services: Supporting those affected by human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
• Anti-Human Trafficking Initiatives: Exposing and interrupting trafficking operations while training law enforcement and service providers.
• Policy & Advocacy Work: Building grassroots power to drive systemic change and hold employers accountable.

From its offices in Hawthorne, Rochester, and Kingston, WJCNY is on the ground every day, ensuring every worker is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of status.
