Killdeer Trio & Cozmic Typo
Killdeer Trio is an instrumental trio co-led by bassist Evan Jagels, drummer Sebastian Green, and guitarist Wyatt Ambrose.
Individually the members of the Trio have worked with acclaimed musicians of various styles including Stacy Dillard, John Stowell, Arlen Roth, You Bet, Dazzling Killmen, Eric Finland, and Palehound. As a band, they aim to draw from their wide-reaching influences to create an experience that is accessible to audiences of all kinds, and challenges expectations of style and genre.
The name Killdeer Trio comes from the “Killdeer” bird, commonly found in the upstate NY — the region each member was raised, and now currently resides. Their music is deeply influenced by the rural environment in which it was conceived, reflecting both its quiet serenity, and constant invitation to explore the surrounding unknown. Killdeer Trio blends deep grooves, folk-like melodies, searing electric guitar, and free improvisation into a unique sound that rides the line between Modern Jazz, and progressive rock.
The trio has performed extensively throughout NY State, performing concerts for attentive audiences at both established and independent venues. In February 2024 Killdeer Trio opened for the legendary saxophonist Joel Frahm Trio feat. Dan Loomis and Ernesto Cervini at the Alias Winter Jazz Festival in Troy NY.
In April of 2025, the trio collaborated with Grammy-Nominated violinist Sara Caswell at the historic Van Dyck Music Club in Schenectady NY, as well the 2nd Annual Hartwick College Jazz Day.
Killdeer Trio's debut self-titled album was released May 11th, 2023, and is available on bandcamp and all streaming platforms.
Their sophmore release Underground is now available for pre-order on Bandcamp, and will be released on Saturday Oct. 11th, 2025.
cozmic typo is a duo of Teagan Faran (strings) and Leo Sussman (flutes). The pair met while personifying various rare birds in a John Luther Adams piece, and haven’t stopped squawking and honking together ever since.
Dedicated to rambunctiously pluralistic noise-making, Leo and Teagan celebrate the joyous quirks of intergalactic happenstance through their own arrangements, commissions, and improvisations.
