The first level of Reiki training takes about 10-15 hours, divided into 2-4 days. In Japanese the first level is called Sho-den, the beginner level. Reiki studies are always guided by a trained Reiki Master.
The Reiki system derives from Japan and the meaning of the word
can be translated as universal life-force energy that is directed by
spiritual awareness.
Reiki energy is present everywhere in the universe and it can be
channeled through the hands. There is a certain process
(=attunement) to initiate a person to use Reiki energy for natural healing, which occurs on all three levels: body, mind & spirit. Anyone can easily learn this natural and simple treatment. When first attuned to Reiki, the access to it is lifelong.
Reiki 1 covers the following:
-History of Reiki and theory about Reiki energy: what it is and how it can be used
-Two basic Reiki meditations:
1) Gassho - "Two hands together" meditation to concentrate and quieten down the scattering mind
2) Joshin Kokyuu-Ho – purifying breathing meditation
-Reiki healing techniques: hand positions for healing yourself and another person
-Reiki attunement
You will also get:
-A written manual about Reiki techniques and theory to refer to (in English)
-Reiki level 1 certificate
-Light lunch, tea / coffee / herbal infusions & light snack during the course days
Reiki attunement is a process of initiation whereby the ability to channel Reiki energy is opened for the student. This happens through a certain initiation system done by a trained Reiki teacher. Reiki teacher is a person who has been initiated to Reiki and
completed the 3rd level (Shinpi-den = the Mystery level) of Reiki studies. The teacher level is generally referred to as Reiki Master in the West.
After the first attunement of Reiki, the student will have the ability to channel Reiki energy for the rest of his / her life. It depends on the person how much he / she chooses to use and practice Reiki. After completing the Reiki 1 training the practitioners are able
to use the Reiki energy for healing oneself and also give healing Reiki treatments to their closest friends and family.
