John Cavanagh's SoundWave 78s is the lp compilation of strange and wonderful records, put together by John with enthusiastic support from those who subscribed to a Crowdfunder campaign.
If you're around Glasgow on Thursday 7th August, please join us at the Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre, 103 Trongate, Glasgow, for an informal gathering to celebrate the album's release.
Sergey Jakovsky of Sharmanka has invited John to host this event amidst Eduard Bersudsky's marvellous mechanical sculptures. We'll have a playback of the album, John will be on hand to talk about the record and share some stories behind the music that's featured on it, with recordings from around the world spanning, roughly, half a century.
There's no charge to attend and no ticket required: just turn up and join in! Doors open at 6pm and we've set this up to be an early evening thing so that, even if you're heading to another show later, you should still be able to make it along to our gathering first.
John has sent out or delivered lots of copies of the album since receiving them from Seabass Vinyl, the pressing plant in Tranent, East Lothian. There are still more to go and if you subscribed to the Crowdfunder and would like to pick up your copy on the night, please say and it'll be there for you. We'll have a limited number of copies for sale on the night too.
