"Alabaster mesmerizes live, blowing minds with fearless absurdity and raw exposed feeling" - Uncut
Alabaster DePlume brings his critically acclaimed album 'A Blade Because A Blade Is Whole' to live performance, weaving spiritual jazz, folk, classical, and beyond into what FLOOD calls "a potent missive of grace." This London-based saxophonist, singer, songwriter, and poet-philosopher creates music driven by intention - in this case, a deep interrogation of healing and self-ownership.
The Guardian describes his new work as "stunning," featuring "outstanding melodies, played with tremulous vibrato...entirely gorgeous, cyclical tunes that rise and fall in intensity." As Pitchfork notes, "these songs act as a guided meditation on healing, and DePlume can express more with his saxophone than a guru with a well-thumbed thesaurus."
Expect an evening of transformative music from an artist whose "self-taught sax is his most distinctive voice...at times a shivering, Arabic thing like a quaking ghost, or sinuously sensual and serenely beautiful" (Uncut). His UK/European tour features an exceptional ensemble including percussionist Julian Sartorius, drummer Seb Rochford, bassist Ruth Goller, and Mikey Kenney on strings.
