25th anniversary of Elk Grove’s cityhood

Celebrate the 25th anniversary of Elk Grove’s cityhood with us at Christopher Cellars! We’ll be pouring a variety of wines alongside live music and a delicious local food truck as we pay tribute to the community spirit that helped shape our city.

We’re especially proud to honor the legacy of Hal Bartholomew—one of our joint venturers—and his family’s deep-rooted commitment to Elk Grove. Hal’s father, Alvin Bartholomew, a fifth-generation resident, was a key figure in the original incorporation efforts, dedicated to preserving the town’s unique identity.

After two failed attempts, Hal took on a leadership role in the third and final push for incorporation, serving as President of the Incorporation Committee. With grassroots support and help from his family—including financial backing—the campaign succeeded in 1999 with a 69.6% vote in favor. Their vision was anchored by three simple promises: more police, local control, and no new taxes.

Come raise a glass to 25 years of cityhood, celebrate our shared history, and toast to the bold future of our hometown.
