... about the charities:
• The Charlie & Carter Foundation
The Charlie & Carter Foundation (CFF) provides financial support to parents of seriously ill children with life-limiting conditions that require 24hr nursing care or specialist nursing facilities.
The CFF was established in loving memory of the two beautiful Cookson brothers who themselves both suffered from life-limiting conditions.
• Pride Action North
Pride Action North is a leading LGBTQIA+ charity providing a wide range of support services across the North of England, and beyond. Their overriding mission is to make the world a safer, more inclusive and accepting place for everybody to live, and to end discrimination in all its forms.
... about the performers:
• Jude FireSong – aka Fabulous Phoenix Boy – is a Scottish-by-inclination performance poet, speculative fiction writer, and visual artist. He is a non-binary, polyamorous queer man, and a neurodivergent, mad, disabled survivor.
His work, which explores identity, love, community, and storytelling, has appeared/is forthcoming in new words, Hush LGBTQ+ Magazine, and rainy weather days; The Sex Gap Zine, Man* Made//Made Man* Zine, and the Poetry Marathon Print Anthology 2024. He has performed extensively all over the UK and beyond, and has had paintings selected for local and national exhibitions.
Jude's multimedia poetry show Made of Magic - poetry of rage & (be)longing is currently playing at theSpace @ Surgeon’s Hall (Aug 1-9th, 10.30am & Aug 18-22, 22.50).
Before Mr Gay GB, Jude competed in Mr FTM Italia and Mr Trans International 2019.
He loves animals, coffee, gelato, and the sea.
• AmyJo Philip is the first out transgender priest in the Scottish Episcopal Church. Before transitioning, she published two full collections with Salt Publishing – The North End of the Possible and The Ambulance Box – as well as two pamphlets with HappenStance Press. Her work has recently appeared in Bad Lilies, London Grip, The Interpreter's House, and New Writing Scotland. She is currently working on a collection for Edinburgh’s Blue Diode Press.
• Robyn O'Donnell is a poet and photographer from Edinburgh. Her work is about sex, falling in love too easily and the end of the world. She likes lego, coffee shops and has had one too many long walks on Montrose beach to tolerate another. She has been published in Dyke News, performed across various Edinburgh venues, and taken photos of it all for over 20 years.
• [Peter Hackney's bio is forthcoming... watch this space!]
• Tomás Bepalo is a Colombian comic, but not your standard type of comic; who is debuting their first solo comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe! Tomás has over ten years of experience doing comedy, yet not even their family knows their name (maybe because they recently changed it?).
• With over a decade of performance experience and a vocal repertoire that spans opera, musical theatre, pop, rock and jazz, Rev brings a unique blend of versatility and passion to her craft.
Grounded in the belief that art should be a universal right, not a privilege, she is dedicated to challenging societal norms and amplifying underrepresented voices, particularly those of brown, queer, disabled immigrants like herself. She is a board member of Flos Collective, a CIC that provides platforms for women and marginalized genders in the arts. Can often be found trying to teach her dog opera.
