Nature journaling (free - ticketed)

What is nature journaling?
It's observing things in nature (anything from looking at plants / flowers, the sounds of insects and birds, or the feel of the weather on your skin) and recording your observations in a creative way however you want to. It's a fantastic way to be more mindful and to re-connect with nature.

What will the session involve?
The session will be led by Rhea Gandhi, a psychotherapist, group therapist and PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh who's kindly volunteered to deliver this session for us for free. After an introduction, you'll individually observe whatever takes your fancy in and around the garden, then you'll come back together for journaling and group reflections. You can record your observations however you like - for example drawings, painting, taking photos on your phone, writing text or a poem, a collage or pressing flowers. Rhea will bring some things with her but please bring any items from home you'd like to use e.g. a notebook or loose paper, pencils or paints, old magazine, scissors and glue, or any other materials that inspire you.

This session is free for both members and non-members. Under 16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult. Free on-street parking on Lochend Quadrant. Please note, unfortunately, we don't have toilet facilities in the garden as we don't have mains water. The closest public toilets are at the Sainsburys and Lidl at Meadowbank Retail Park (5 min drive / 10 min walk away).
