Hey you! What’s the capital of Iceland? What did Katy Perry sing in space? Which one of us has double-jointed knees?
Don’t know? Well you better get revising in time for the Durham Revue’s inaugural pub quiz!! Skip on down to the Head of Steam (and then skip on up the stairs once you’re inside) on Sunday 4th May at 7 for a fiesta of trivia, a celebration of fun facts and just a good old all round smattering of GK. And hey, because we’re show-offs and attention seekers at the best of times, how about we promise that it will be at least an ATTEMPT towards funny too? Now I think that sounds like a deal.
With some simply staggering prizes up for grabs there’s an incentive beyond listening to us yelling at you for an evening. What are those staggering prizes I hear you cry? We cannot tell you. And no, that is NOT because they are yet to be decided, it’s because we wish to maintain a veil of mystique that we otherwise very much lack. We can tell you one thing though, a good view at the Assembly Rooms Theatre on Sunday 15th June may be on the table….
As an admittedly rather eccentric gang we have a remarkable and bizarre breadth of knowledge so get ready for your brains to be stretched and squeezed. Alice Barr seems to know absolutely everything that has ever happened and we’re yet to work out if she’s been winding us up the whole year so if nothing else, come to see that in action. It's really quite incredible.
Wowza this sounds like it’s shaping up to be a magnificent evening, doesn’t it? Surely there’s a catch?!! Nope. Not beyond the (really very reasonable if we do admit so ourselves) entry fee of just three pound coins!! That’s like less than half a tiny flat white in the library these days. There’s a rumour that we’ll be able to get our hands on one of those alluring DST-approved card readers so actually prepare for that please.
Okay PRESS GOING please and thank you so we can prepare Head of Steam adequately for the torrent of quiz fanatics that will be stampeding through their doors on Sunday 4th May (which I’ve been informed is Star Wars day. I wouldn’t know that because I have not seen Star Wars. It’s a real gap in my personal general knowledge and so will not be included in my round. That along with anything to do with the Romans, Harry Potter and just the entirety of science tbh. Special prize if you can guess who’s written this)
See ya there!
Oh and it’s Reykjavik, What a Wonderful World and Nat Pryke. Duh.
