Friends of the Felgemaker present Dan Forrest's "Requiem For The Living" conducted by Dr. Charles Sundquist at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7.
At its core, a requiem is a prayer for rest which is traditionally sung for the deceased. However, Dan Forrest’s "Requiem For The Living" focuses on the experience of those still living and their own struggle with pain and sorrow. This stunningly beautiful music has been performed by choral groups and orchestras around the world since its debut in 2013. This is music that touches the hearts of listeners, offering comfort and peace.
The event will feature vocal soloist Brian Kapp, tenor; Tasha Kapp, soprano; and Cole Ottjes, treble. Instrumentalists include Velda Graham Bell, organ; Paula Gudmundson, flute; Betsy Husby, cello; Janell Lemire, harp; Madeline Miller, oboe; Deborah Rausch, horn; Kristin Sande, violin.
Rachael Kresha will open the program on the historic1898 Felgemaker organ performing works by Howells and Durufle.
Tickets are $20 (plus $3.18 in fees) on Eventbrite and $20 at the door. Student rush tickets will be available at the door for $5.
