About the event

Wired Our Own Way - Red Line Book Festival 2025
Join authors Nuala O’Connor, Niamh Garvey, and Jen Wallace in conversation with Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan as they discuss Wired Our Own Way, a bestselling anthology exploring autism and neurodiversity in Ireland. Through personal and powerful essays, the book celebrates individuality, challenges stereotypes, and offers a rich portrait of life beyond the neurotypical lens.

Nuala O’Connor
NUALA O’CONNOR is a novelist, short story writer and poet, and lives in Co. Galway with her family. She is the author of five previous novels, including Nora (New Island & Harper Perennial, 2021), which was shortlisted for the An Post Irish Book Awards, the Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year, the Dalkey Novel of the Year Award, RTÉ Audience Choice Award and named as a Top 10 2021 historical novel by The New York Times. Nora was also the One Dublin One Book choice for 2022. Nuala is editor-in-chief at flash e-zine Splonk.

Niamh Garvey
Niamh Garvey is an autistic author living in Cork, Ireland. She has a Diploma in Autism Studies from University College Cork, and is also a registered general nurse. She writes about autism and neurodiversity. Her most recent books are Being Autistic (2024) and Looking After Your Autistic Self (2023), both published by Jessica Kingsley publishers.

Jen Wallace
Jen Wallace is an author and mother from Cork who loves stories. She works in both verse and prose and likes to weave stories from a child’s perspective, full of wonder, deep wisdom and questions about the world. After being diagnosed with both ADHD and autism late in life, she loves to write neurodivergent characters so people like her can see themselves in books. She lives by the sea with her family and their cats, goats, chickens and rabbit. Jen has wanted to be a writer since she was very small, although she also wanted to be a superhero, a firefighter and the President of Ireland. She was selected as a Children’s Books Ireland Raising Voices fellow 2022. Her book Dinosaur Pie is published by Little Island in April 2024 and is illustrated by Alan O’Rourke.

Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan
Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan is a Dublin-based writer, performer and cultural consultant from India, who has also lived in North America, Sweden, Turkey, and the UK. Her work has been published by Dedalus Press, Lifeboat Press, Little Island, Poetry Ireland, Banshee, and Stinging Fly amongst others. Chandrika was selected to participate in the Irish Writers Centre’s XBorders programme in 2018 and 2020, Poetry Ireland’s Introductions in 2021, and Science Gallery Dublin’s Rapid Residency in 2021. She has been featured in a number of podcasts, with work aired on NPR and RTÉ radio. She also regularly performs at literary events in Ireland, and is also a book reviewer for Children’s Books Ireland’s Inis magazine. Since 2022 Chandrika has been the recipient of multiple Arts Council of Ireland Awards, one of which supported her being the 2023 Writer in Residence for the Institute of Physics. In 2024 Chandrika has been selected as a Goethe-Institut Studio Quantum Artist in Residence, and is currently under commission with Skein Press as part of the Play It Forward Fellowship.
