Hello Sunflowers,
This coming Thursday (31st July) is the third and last summer time editiong of our monthly open mic and we hope you can make it. It's also one of our special evenings when we launch the latest edition of Flare, the quarterly narrowsheet dedicated exclusively to readers at the Sunflower Sessions.
As ever, it is hosted in the Lord Edward public house in Christchurch (you will find us there on the last Thursday of each month from January to November).
We kick off at around 7.30pm and some essential information before you come along…
- The venue is the 2nd floor of The Lord Edward Public House (just opposite Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin). Entry is by the side door beside Burdock's Fish shop (but alas no food allowed in the venue).
- Readers have a strict maximum of 4 minutes each...use all four, use one but don't use five (out of respect for other readers on the night).
NOTE: the end time for the event is approx 10.30pm so reading time may be shortened if the night is busy or towards the end of the evening.
- The evening is scheduled by the MC - so it's not first come, first served but if we put you on late in the evening we will make our best endeavours to have you on early the following month. The MC's word is final in terms of when readers stop reading so please respect that decision.
- The night is for poetry, prose and spoken word so no music or comedy.
- If you want to put your name down to read, just confirm your attendance via the event page, direct message us via our Facebook page or email
c3VuZmxvd2VyX3Nlc3Npb25zIHwgeWFob28gISBjb20=. Plase note that we have now closed our MeetUp page. Feel free to turn up on the night too, although on a busy night we may have to give priority to confirmed attendees.
- The Sunflower Sessions is always free to attend but we depend on the generosity of the Lord Edward for our venue. For that reason, whether your poison is water, tea or whiskey, we would ask that you support the bar and use the lounge bar on the first floor and not the main bar.
Please note that the venue is accessed via 3 flights of stairs and is therefore, unfortunately not access friendly.
As ever, post shares are very much appreciated.
Looking forward to another great night!
Spread the word - Reposts and shares much appreciated!
