About the event

Open Art Studio: Jellett and Hone
From 1 July to 9 August, our Open Art Studio is open as a free drop-in space for creative exploration, inspired by our summer exhibition 'Mainie Jellett and Evie Hone. The Art of Friendship'.

Researched and developed by artist Eimear Murphy, the studio programme will offer hands on activities inspired by the artistic techniques and creative ideas of the foundational Irish Modernist artists, Mainie Jellett and Evie. Gallery facilitators will provide support throughout the programme making the studio a dynamic environment, encouraging visitors of all ages, abilities and nationalities to engage, experiment and make, while also providing space to reflect and connect with the themes of the exhibition.

All materials are provided. The Gallery aims to use recycled and environmentally sourced materials where possible.

Research Artist: Eimear Murphy
Studio Coordinator: Emeir Stanley
Studio Facilitators: Eimear Murphy, Aoife Convery, Sophie McCormack, Pierce Woodall and Mandalena Miltiadi.

About the Research artist: Eimear Murphy’s art practice comes from a desire to learn from how other people experience the world, centring inclusive education, care and reciprocity (giving and taking) as powerful tools for creating artwork and engagements. She holds a distinction in both MA Arts & Learning Goldsmiths, London (2022) and Fine Art & History of Art NCAD, Dublin (2015). In 2018 Eimear received the Arts Council's prestigious Next Generation Bursary, and her education work has been supported by the Young People, Children and Education Bursary in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Eimear is the project coordinator of a primary school outreach programme at the Hugh Lane Gallery since 2023.
