THE WRAN
Emerging from the Comeragh’s of County Waterford in Ireland, four brothers –Tommy, Danny, Sean, and Stephen Dunford–form the heart of the brand-new trad. fusion band, The Wran.
Inspired by the likes of Moving Hearts, Lankum, Planxty, and Mary Wallopers, The Wran infuse traditional Irish tunes with a punkish attitude and a psychedelic edge – powerhouse stuff; intense and furious and then at times dynamic and gentle. There’s something about hearing four brothers sing in harmony that cuts right to the bone. Their performances weave old folk tunes with original compositions, built upon banjo, acoustic guitar, accordion, harmonium, electric guitar, bass and drums.
The band has only begun their journey, but their dynamic energy and musical prowess leave an enduring impact. In 2025 The Wran appear at Glastonbury, All Together Now, Electric Picnic, Vantastival, Ealu Le Gra, TuneFest, Fuinneamh, Greenman, Greenbelt and Beautiful Days.
Steeped in folklore and fury, The Wran won’t be Ireland’s best-kept secret for long.
BRIARS
BRIARS are an alternative folk act that sound like nobody else in the Irish scene. Their sound ranges from fragile subtlety to raucous energy, visiting every stop along the way, always underlined with a signature twist.
At their core, BRIARS consists of two main writers, (Mick Grace & Paul O’Shea), but are joined in studio (as well as in a live setting) by some of Ireland’s finest musicians, often from contrasting backgrounds and styles. Their songs and tunes are a unique blend of the band’s traditional folk and alternative contemporary influences.
Their energetic live show mixes original songs and tunes (as well as original arrangements of traditional style tunes). The band’s last two singles received coverage from the likes of RTE Entertainment, Hot Press, Analogue Trash, The Irish Post and more, as well as regular radio play on national Irish and UK radio (RTE Radio 1, RTE 2FM, BBC Radio and more). 2025 sees BRIARS return to the festival circuit, with slots at Cork Roots Fest, Electric Picnic, When Next We Meet, Whelan’s Trad and Folk Fest (Main Stage), Galway Folk Festival (supporting The Scratch on the Main Stage) and many more. New single ‘Odds And Ends’ comes out in early August.
