“Tradalac blends Irish traditional music with a range of other influences including folk, rock, blues, and global styles. The group is led by three well known Irish session musicians: Seán Regan, Alan Connor and John McLoughlin—whose shared background and collaborative approach create a distinctive and flexible sound. Tradalac released their debut single “Hag On The Hill” in July 2025. Their debut EP will be released on August 13th 2025.
While rooted in Irish tradition, their music draws on many years of touring and recording across different genres. The result is a style that reflects the musicians’ individual journeys and a collective interest in pushing musical boundaries while respecting the core of traditional music.
Seán Regan (Fiddle, Mandola, Percussion, Vocals) was born in Manchester to Irish parents and grew up surrounded by the city’s Irish music scene. After moving to Ireland in the early 2000s, he became an in-demand session and touring musician. He has worked with artists such as Seán Keane, Damien Dempsey, and Sharon Shannon, performing in venues ranging from theatres to large concert halls, including the Sydney Opera House and Nolan Park with Bruce Springsteen.
Alan Connor (Piano, Keyboards, Electric & Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Percussion, Vocals) is a multi-instrumentalist who has performed with Sharon Shannon for over 14 years. He also performs regularly with Something Happens & Frances Black. Alan is a member of the RTÉ Late Late Show House Band since 2021 and has performed on the Show with Artists such as Michael Buble, Ronnie Wood, Adam Clayton, Imelda May & many more.
John McLoughlin (Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Mandolin, Vocals) has worked as a professional musician for over 30 years, with experience in Irish traditional, folk, blues, rock and classical music. He has performed and recorded with Damien Dempsey (including co-writing and arranging), Gilbert O’Sullivan, Ronnie Drew, Frances Black, Sinead O’Connor, and others.
Together, the members of Tradalac bring a thoughtful and open approach to music-making, combining traditional roots with broader musical ideas in a way that is honest, skilled, and quietly distinctive.”
