"Some Things Must Be Heard: Spitting & Politicking" is a powerful spoken word and community organizing experience that blends art, healing, and activism to uplift the voices of those directly impacted by the criminal legal system.

In collaboration with Tracy (T-Spirit) Stanton—a directly impacted artist, organizer, and peacemaker—this space will uplift young artists, formerly incarcerated leaders, and systems-impacted community members. Together, we will create a space for truth-telling, reflection, and radical expression.

This immersive afternoon features spoken word performances, visual art, music, and storytelling by local and national creatives and organizers who are committed to speaking truth to power. It is a celebration of life, a call to action, and a sacred space where healing and liberation meet.

Rooted in the belief that healing is liberation, this experience invites the community to imagine a world beyond wealth-based detention and mass incarceration—and take action to build it.

Goals Include:

• Honoring system-impacted voices and lived experience
• Developing leadership among young artists and organizers
• Engaging the public through creative political education
• Celebrating Second Chance Month through community connection and art

Spitting & Politicking is more than an event—it’s a movement, a platform, and a pathway to healing through collective power.
