WORKSHOPS
Each adult 19 years or older should choose one workshop from each session; youth 18 years or younger should only select the Youth Session. We will try accommodating your workshop choices.
Youth Session: 1:30 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER | DR. M. SHAWN COPELAND
Dr. M. Shawn Copeland is Professor Emerita of Systematic Theology at Boston College and Theologian-in-Residence at Saint Katharine Drexel Parish in Boston. A renowned theologian and scholar, she is the author or editor of eight books, including Enfleshing Freedom (2023), Knowing Christ Crucified (2018), and Desire, Darkness, and Hope (2021). Her work spans over 150 publications on theological anthropology, race, gender, spirituality, and social suffering.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Copeland earned her B.A. from Madonna College and her Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Boston College. She has held academic appointments at Saint Norbert College, Yale Divinity School, Marquette University, and the Institute for Black Catholic Studies at Xavier University of Louisiana, with visiting roles at Harvard, Emory, and St. John’s University.
She was the first African American and the first African American woman elected president of the Catholic Theological Society of America. A former convener of the Black Catholic Theological Symposium, she has received eight honorary degrees and numerous awards, including the John Courtney Murray and Marianist awards. Dr. Copeland has lectured widely across the U.S. and internationally in Africa, Europe, and Australia.
