Affect considers the emotional and sensory impressions that accumulate through presence and participation. It highlights how embodied experience, attention and subtle shifts in perception shape the ways a place is felt, remembered and understood.
This event introduces Affect through a somatic movement workshop led by Julienne Schembri, inviting participants to experience the Inquisitor’s Palace through the body rather than through narrative or visual cues. Somatic practice centres on awareness, breath and physical attunement, guiding participants to sense the building through weight, rhythm, contact with surfaces, orientation and spatial memory.
Through gentle, accessible movement prompts, Julienne will lead an alternative navigation of the museum, shifting attention toward sensation, groundedness and embodied listening. Participants will be encouraged to notice how the body responds to thresholds, temperature, acoustics and architectural scale, discovering how movement can act as a form of interpretation in itself. The workshop offers a quiet way of encountering the Palace; one that foregrounds presence, sensation and the subtle impressions that accumulate as we move through a site.
This event is free of charge and registration is required(
