- **Event Description**: Vestige turns to the emotional and material remnants that endure across erasure, revealing how traces left by those once imprisoned continue to shape how the Palace is sensed today. This event introduces vestige as a way of engaging with the site through close looking, material experimentation and attention to what persists quietly over time.

Led by artist Wioletta Kulewska Akyel, this creative workshop invites children to explore the marks, symbols and faint inscriptions found in the Palace’s former prison cells; the same traces that inform the artist’s installation Truth Has Two Faces and the Snow Is Black. Using Wioletta’s frottage method as a starting point, participants will experiment with capturing textures from selected surfaces and translating them into their own compositions using watercolours and colour pencils. Through guided activities, children will consider how small marks can hold memory and how gestures from the past can be reimagined through contemporary creative practice.

This event is free of charge and registration is required (https://forms.gle/fwNKdKYsmYErhSRs5). Open to children aged 8-12, each accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult. All materials are provided.

Please note that the museum will not be accessible during this workshop and that some workshop locations are unfortunately not accessible to those with limited mobility.

This event forms part of the public programme of Moving with the Wind, Like Waves, a site-specific project unfolding across an exhibition, publication and series of activations at the Inquisitor’s Palace. The project is developed and curated by Elyse Tonna and commissioned and supported by the Bank of Valletta Foundation.
