Thursday mornings see the start of our new course ‘Make @ The Minories’.
Aimed at both beginners and the more experienced these hands-on sessions are designed to develop your 3D making skills through the exploration of traditional craft techniques and contemporary materials.
Throughout the weeks you will have the opportunity of developing new or existing skills whilst developing your understanding of materials. This course will provide you with the space to develop your creative skills and imagination whilst exploring contemporary artists and designers working in the contemporary craft world.
The sessions will be led by highly experienced maker and educator Sara Barker who will support your learning.
Whether you come along for a single session or join us weekly, you will develop your skills, explore different processes and learn more about 3D making.
Weeks 1-3: Introduction to using wire and metal and exploring where you can take this versatile material.
Weeks 4-6: We will turn our attention to fabric and textiles and explore how it can be utilised across many processes including jewellery making and embellishing.
Weeks 7 to 9: We will explore paper from paper construction to collage to book art.
More themes and techniques will be added in consultation with participants.
Make @ The Minories aims to create a community of practice around making, where all are welcome to explore craft and making in a safe and inspiring space.
The sessions will be complimented by short or one-off specialist courses where you can continue to explore and experiment.
