Join us for a powerful guided discussion in honor of Juneteenth that brings artists and community members together to reflect on how we remember, interpret, and express Black history through creative practice.
This conversation will explore the role of art in shaping public memory and cultural identity, particularly in the context of liberation, resistance, and healing. Together, we’ll examine how artists serve as historians, storytellers, and truth-tellers — and how creative work can help communities reclaim narratives, hold space for grief and joy, and imagine futures rooted in justice.
Whether you're an artist, organizer, or community member, you’re invited to engage in a thoughtful dialogue on how art can support collective memory and liberation.Afterwards is a 15 minute walk to the Cozad Bates house where we will get a brief tour and hear some history and background around this Cleveland historical gem.The discussion will be moderated by community member and regional activist, Jerrod Amir Shakir
