Protective Factors Against Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can have lasting impacts on physical, emotional, and mental health. However, research shows that protective factors can help mitigate these effects, fostering resilience and promoting healthy development. This three-part presentation series explores key protective factors that support children and families in overcoming the challenges associated with ACEs.

Part 3: Social and Emotional Competence of Children

Teaching children to recognize, express, and manage their emotions builds resilience and reduces the long-term effects of ACEs. Fostering skills such as empathy, self-regulation, and problem-solving promotes emotional well-being and strengthens their ability to cope with life’s challenges.
