Come join us for a weekend of artistic inspiration with the Cincinnati Art Club's annual ViewPoint Workshop! This workshop is offered in conjunction with the national, juried art exhibit sponsored by the Cincinnati Art Club. Renowned artist Farley Lewis will serve as the judge for this show, and also will be the instructor for the workshop. He will guide us through the beauty of poetic landscapes in his mesmerizing paintings while leading you to create your own special landscapes. This in-person event is a rare opportunity to delve into the world of art with a master of the craft, from Missouri. Don't miss out on this chance to immerse yourself in the magic of landscapes brought to life through Farley's practices and perspectives!

Farley Lewis believes in a solid composition and value structure, harmonious color, and a variety of edges that catch the viewer’s eye from across the room. Poetic expression and brushwork cause the viewer to linger. This workshop deals with both: the five elements of a painting – Composition, Values, Color, Edges and Detail – and poetic, creative approaches to block-ins and brushwork. Whether you are new to painting, or you’ve been painting for years, this class has something for everyone. This workshop is primarily for acrylic and oil painters, and each day begins with a teaching and demonstration, then the participants can work on their own painting with plenty of one-on-one instruction.

Farley Lewis' BIO

Farley Lewis brings a fun and creative approach to teaching landscape painting. Having begun a career in art 40 years ago, he comes with a wealth of experience and a touch of childlike wonder as he unpacks the principles of his craft. His simple, relaxed approach to teaching is informative, refreshing and easy to remember. Farley has a BFA in Fine Art and has taught art in schools, businesses, plein aire events and workshops throughout the country. “When I look down a creek at sunrise, and watch the play of light on the ripples, something stirs in me, not like a stomach ache but more like an epiphany. I believe beauty is a gateway to the divine. When I capture in paint that glimpse of glory I see in nature, I’m able to invite others into the experience. I love that! I believe those experiences with beauty change us. And this inspires me in my continual pursuit of excellence as an artist.”
