CINCINNATI, OH – A special town hall event, "State of Neurodiversity: In The Workplace," has been announced to foster a candid conversation among employers about creating more inclusive and supportive work environments for neurodivergent individuals. The event will feature a panel led by Debbie Smith of EasterSeals Redwood.
The dynamic panel will bring together a diverse range of perspectives, including a nonprofit leader, an entrepreneur, and representatives from the corporate, higher education, and workforce development sectors.
This interactive town hall creates a collaborative space to explore the challenges and opportunities of neurodiversity in the modern workplace. The town hall is designed for a broad audience of employers, students, employees and entrepreneurs.
To ensure accessibility, the town hall will be offered with both in-person and virtual attendance options.
This town hall aims to provide a space where neurodivergent professionals and employers can identify pathways to thrive on-the-desk, which is often not linear. The discussion will delve into crucial topics such as effective onboarding, support mechanisms, and employee retention. One of the key issues to be addressed is "stimming in the workplace" and how employers can create a more understanding and accommodating culture. The importance of building a strong network for neurodivergent employees will also be a central theme.
Attendees will be invited to contribute their thoughts and experiences on collaborative boards focused on three key areas: Training, Retaining, and Resources. These boards will feature a "where we are now" section and a "wish list" section to capture both the current state and ideal future of neurodiversity in the workplace.
In addition to the panel discussion, there will be an opportunity for attendees to write down their thoughts during the sessions. A break will allow for networking and for participants to post their notes on the interactive boards.
