June Pet Social at The Pines
11am • June 14th • The Pines Pizza & Pub, 4100 River Ridge Dr NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402
This isn’t just patio season—it’s adventure pet season. And this month’s Pet Social is your chance to show off all the calm, confident skills your Adventure Team has been working on.
We’ll meet at The Pines, one of our favorite dog-friendly spots, for good food, relaxed vibes, and a real-world training session designed to help your pet shine.
✨ RSVP required by June 12th at kingscreatures.com/pet-socials
Space is limited to make sure every handler and pet has room to train and enjoy the outing.
Why this Social matters:
The Pines has been a great friend to well-trained pets and their people. But with construction on 42nd St NE slowing things down, they need our support. You can still get to the restaurant—just use River Ridge Dr off Glass Rd!
Let’s fill the patio with calm, well-mannered dogs and show Cedar Rapids what responsible pet ownership looks like.
PLUS… it’s contest time!
The Pines is bringing back their Pets on the Patio contest all June long! Here’s how it works:
Bring your pet to the patio between June 1–30
Snap a photo of them sitting pretty
Send the photo to The Pines via Facebook Messenger
They’ll share it throughout the month, and on June 30, voting begins!
Whichever pup gets the most likes WINS a swag basket + a gift card. 👑
Let’s see a KCAT dog take the crown this year. 💪
This isn’t your average dog meet-up.
It’s part of a bigger culture shift—one where pets are calm, handlers are confident, and Adventure Teams set the standard for public behavior.
This is how we help build safer, friendlier spaces for pets and people. One focused walk, one peaceful patio brunch, one proud moment at a time.
Who can come:
Pet Socials are open to current clients of King’s Creatures—whether you’ve finished training, you’re currently enrolled, or you’re part of the KCAT Club. These events are only for those who’ve trained with us. If that’s you? You’re in the club.
What to bring & what to expect:
- A 6-foot leash
- High-value treats to keep your pet focused and engaged
- Water for your pet and poop bags (always)
- A readiness to train in public, advocate for your pet, and lead by example
We’ll work on calm engagement around distractions, neutral behavior near other dogs, polite public manners, and maybe even play a little patio training bingo.
On-leash greetings are not allowed, even with dogs in the group or dogs walking by. This keeps everyone safe and reinforces the neutral behavior that sets therapy animals and adventure pets apart. I’ll help you explain the “why” if you ever need a hand!
Suggested donation:
While these events are free, we suggest a $5 donation per handler/pet team to support Living Creatures Ministry—our nonprofit therapy animal program making a difference across Iowa and beyond.
This is more than just a meetup.
It’s a chance to be part of something meaningful: a well-mannered community of pet lovers raising the bar for what public outings with dogs can look like.
Your pet is doing the work. Let’s celebrate it.
I’ll see you at The Pines!
