Believe in Bristol is thrilled to announce the 25th Anniversary season of the beloved Border Bash summer concert series.
Since its inception in 2000, Border Bash has grown from a modest gathering in a quiet city center into a signature summer tradition in a vibrant downtown. Over the past 25 years, the series has brought free live music, local vendors, and family-friendly fun to the heart of Downtown Bristol, showcasing a diverse array of musical talents, from local favorites to nationally recognized artists.
“Border Bash has become more than just a concert series; it’s a celebration of our community’s spirit and resilience,” said Maggie Elliott, Executive Director of Believe in Bristol. “We’re excited to honor 25 years of music, memories, and community connection, and we look forward to sharing this special season with everyone.”

Cruz Contreras & The Black Lillies Bio:
Cruz Contreras is a seasoned Americana musician whose nearly three-decade-long career spans roles as a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, bandleader, producer, and storyteller. Raised between Tennessee and Michigan, his musical journey began at 15, playing guitar alongside his brother Billy Contreras. Cruz first made waves with Robinella and the Cstringband, later becoming the driving force behind The Black Lillies—a band whose roots-driven sound topped Billboard and Americana charts, earned Independent Music Awards, and brought him to iconic stages like the Grand Ole Opry and Conan O’Brien's late-night show. His music, praised by Rolling Stone, NPR, and American Songwriter, is steeped in tradition yet fiercely original.
Now performing with his band under the name Cruz Contreras and The Black Lillies, he tours in support of his debut solo album *Cosmico*. His live performances continue to captivate audiences at major festivals like Bonnaroo, Merle Fest, and Jazz Fest. Known for his soulful storytelling and rich Americana sound, Cruz remains dedicated to creating moments of quiet connection and timeless musical narratives.
The Craig Street Ramblers Bio:
The Craig Street Ramblers are a dynamic Americana band hailing from Norton, Virginia, rooted in the rich musical traditions of the Appalachian Mountains. Founded in 2010 by Jacob Fields and Joshua Wingate, both of whom discovered their passion for music through early experiences in church, the duo has cultivated a sound that blends country, blues, and southern gospel. Their music reflects the heritage of the coalfields, offering a unique and authentic listening experience.
The band has collaborated with notable musicians such as Dave Eggar and his band Deoro, Amber Rubarth, and Max ZT, showcasing their versatility and commitment to their craft. Their discography includes singles like "Waiting," "Count On Me," and "Soul Shine," which highlight their songwriting prowess and deep connection to their Appalachian roots. Recognized for their compelling performances, the Craig Street Ramblers continue to captivate audiences, bringing the spirit of the mountains to stages far and wide.
