Sew Together- social sewing classes in Hove.
Join us for some dedicated sewing time to indulge in your favourite hobby! Bring your sewing machine and current project (or use one of ours). If you love sewing but find it hard to make space and time, this is the class for you. Sewing is a solo activity but getting together with like-minded sewists can be rewarding and spark those creative ideas as we share knowledge and experience. Our tutor Laura is on hand to help if you're stuck with a pattern or technique.
New to sewing? Beginners are very welcome to come along and start their sewing journey. We have some lovely projects to help you get started like a cushion cover or simple bag. It doesn't matter if you don't own a machine yet, we have a couple on hand you can use during the session, just let us know when booking.

About the organisor;
Laura O'Sullivan has over fifteen years of experience as an adult education teacher and dressmaker. Having worked as a photographer, jeweller and project manager she brings creativity together with organisational skills in many aspects of her working life. Currently she is a tutor at Sew Fabulous Brighton teaching adults and children, and working in preloved designer clothes shop Circles in the North Laine. Laura lives in Hove with her husband, four children and two sewing machines.
Price £20 per person
What to bring:
- Your sewing machine, plus foot pedal/power cable and any specific accessories you may need (eg bobbins, zip foot, thread spool)
- Your project - fabric, pattern, thread, plus any notions/haberdashery it needs (eg bias binding, zipper, interfacing)
- Your sewing kit with pins, needles, fabric scissors, snips, unpicker, chalk, tape measure.
By bringing your own machine and equipment we are able to run these trial sessions at low cost. If you do not own a sewing machine (yet!) then there are a couple available but please be advised you may need to share it with another student due to limited availability at the moment.

- overlocker
- iron and ironing board
- some basic sewing equipment available, if you forget your pins for example.
- small pieces of fabric
- beginner project suggestions (bag/cushion cover etc)
- tea, coffee and biscuits
Available to purchase:
- larger fabric remnants
- interfacing
- pattern tracing paper
