About the event

First Press x Wax Equities @ The Prince Albert, Brighton
First Press is teaming up with Wax Equities for a special Record Fair at The Prince Albert on Sunday 4th May 12-4!

🍻 🎶 🎸 🍺 🥁

First Press has been bringing Record Fairs to Brighton for the past two years with a new cast of sellers and labels at every event, but this event brings in some of the South Coast’s finest - with Wax Equities travelling down the A27 with some of Portsmouth, Southampton and Chichester's best diggers in tow.

Wax Equities has been popping up in Brighton with top notch DJs at some of the city’s best vinyl spots, with all dayers at The Windmill and Hand in Hand over the past few months - this collab will be the first Record Fair here in town after some excellent days of digging at the other end of the county.

As always, FREE ENTRY

What can you expect?

🎶 Record Sellers 🎶

— Rob Downie —
Rob Downie is a familiar face behind the record decks as well as the record fair tables! Along with being a regular seller at the major fairs in the area, he is also the man behind ‘Bamboo Sound’ - a vintage, valve powered reggae Soundsystem.
Rob will be selling reggae , punk , indie, hip hop , soul, jazz , dance 12” , boogie etc.

— Brad HBSMA —
There's been plenty of excitement about having a look through the crates promised by the man behind the excellent HBS Music Archaeology YouTube Channel - which is well worth checking out https://www.youtube.com/@HBSMUSICARCHAEOLOGY

Brad and Chris will be bringing mostly funk, rock, jazz and hip hop, all super well priced for everyday folks, and some nice rare bits for the collectors.

— Paul Homer / The Vinyl Tuck Shop —
Paul Homer is the founder of ‘Ska-Beat-Soul’ a vinyl-only, vintage reggae collective who are based in Chichester, and residents at the popular ‘Brighton Ska Train’ at The Volks.
He is also the owner of ‘The Vinyl Tuck Shop’ record store, so will have plenty of rarities and bargains for sale on the day, covering everything from funk, soul, disco, Latin to 80’s essentials!

— Rob Life —
After a barnstorming debut last time out, Rob Life joins us again with records guaranteed to fly out, one of Brighton’s best collectors, expect funky sounds and grooves, with a spread of Funk, Soul, B-Boy Breaks, Latin, Hip Hop, Psych, Jazz, Afro beat and more

— Balearic Mike —
With over 20 years experience behind the counter of Manchester's Vinyl Exchange, it's fair to say Balearic Mike knows a thing or two about record collecting. Whether you're a DJ after that under-the-counter little known Balearic party starter, or a collector of classic rock looking for a nice condition early pressing, Mike will have something for you.

Selling a range of Loft Disco, Balearic Beats., Italo-Disco, House & Techno classics, Hip-Hop, Funk, and Soul, Contemporary Dance Music, 80s Pop, Indie-Alternative Rock, Folk, Classic Rock & Pop, Psyche and Krautrock... Oh... and some copies of my own Down To The Sea & Back Volume Tres compilation on vinyl and CD!

— Vinyl Selecter —
A staple at First Press, Gordon is once again bringing some of Vinyl Selecters most choice cuts, expect Classic Rock essentials along side his excellent spread of Reggae and Dub, and a ever growing Indie collection!

— David Loja —
David’s crates are filled to the brim with finds you likely have never seen before and may never seen again, a prolific digger of all things funky and weird, expect World nuggets with the chance to test David’s encyclopaedic knowledge and cult classics with a jazzy note. David regularly plays around Brighton and has a collection of Dance 12”’s always worth a dig

MORE TO COME!

— Mr Higgs —
Having relocated down to the sunnier side of the M25, Mr Higgs will be bringing his South London sound to First Press for the first time! Playing funk, soul, boogie, hip hop, jazz funk and all that good stuff

Jumping on the decks, First Press aka George will be brining a selection of global grooves and finds from record fairs gone by - expect jazzy beats, eastern psych and disco alongside hip hop and chilled bops

— Wax Equities —
Tom will be having a spin through the day, brining a spread of incredible 45s with non stop belters, classics and tunes you won't hear no where else, from the heavy weight vinyl crew
